Steven Antonakes, the former Deputy Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, has taken a job as Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Eastern Bank in Boston. The bank announced the hiring in a press release earlier this week.
Antonakes left the CFPB earlier this summer because he said the pain of commuting between his home in Boston and the CFPB in Washington, D.C. was too great.
Eastern Bank has 100 branches across Massachusetts and New Hampshire and nearly $10 billion of assets.
