- The federal government is trying to help small businesses, which include many collection agencies, protect themselves from a cyber-attack. The average cost of a cyber-attack is $9,000, according to the government.
- A town in Pennsylvania is trying to update its ordinances so that it can have the collection agency working on its behalf collect its fees from the delinquent debtors instead of taking it from the balances being collected.
- For those who may have thought that the changes to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act made by the Federal Communications Commission were just a nightmare, this is not good news. The FCC affirmed the changes it announced in July in a notice published in the Federal Register.
- A California woman is suing a collection agency because she received two unwanted phone calls and one voicemail on her cell phone, attempting to collect a debt. The woman claims that she did not provide prior expressed consent for the calls to be made to her cell phone.
