- Capital One won a lawsuit in Iowa after a debtor sued because the bank is not registered as a licensed debt collector. Not being licensed is not a reason to sue and claim an unfair collection practice, according to the verdict.
- A man is suing a number of parties, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, DraftKings, and FanDuel. He is alleging that companies are engaging in illegal debt collection activities collecting money he lost on the daily fantasy sites, which, in New York, are now considered gambling. State law prohibits collection of gambling debts.
