- Ascension, the nation’s largest non-profit hospital system, is partnering with a New York company to invest $200 million — with an option to purchase — Accretive Health, one of the nation’s largest healthcare collection companies. Ascension was already Accretive’s largest customer and had previously given the company an ultimatum to either sell itself to Ascension or lose the company’s business.
DEMOCRACY BE DAMNED
- An Ohio town moved a step closer to signing on with a Cleveland-based collections agency to manage the town’s municipal tax collections, even though residents of the town would rather keep the job that will likely be lost to the outsourcing.
NEW TCPA SUITS FILED
- Lawsuits were filed against Uber and Verde Energy for alleged violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Uber allegedly made hundreds of thousands of robocalls promoting its services and asking residents to speak out against plans to limit the company’s activities in New York City. Verde Energy made advertising calls to consumers despite their declared opposition to receiving such messages.
