- A age-old debate in Illinois as the two men vying to be the next States Attorney for Stephenson County are squaring off over how best to collect $3 million in unpaid court fines. The current States Attorney is using a third-party product to help recoup the money from tax returns of delinquent payers, while the man who wants to replace him thinks the program should be brought in-house.
CAN I BORROW THE CAR?
- The state of California is owed more than $10 billion by consumers who have unpaid debts and fines from traffic and criminal offenses, and a state legislator is trying to allow more of those people to have their driver’s licenses back so they can keep working and help pay off those debts. Currently, the state suspends the driver’s license of most offenders who have outstanding court debts or fines and are not making payments.
