WHITE HOUSE VOWS TO VETO PROPOSED END OF OPERATION CHOKE POINT
- The House of Representatives passed legislation yesterday that would bring an end to Operation Choke Point, a federally regulated initiative that sought to prohibit financial institutions from doing business with legitimate businesses in certain industries, including debt collections. However, hours after the measure was passed, the White House issued a statement threatening to veto the legislation, should it pass the Senate and be presented to the president for signature.
