WISCONSIN MOVES CLOSER TO PASSING BILL THAT WOULD MAKE IT EASIER FOR DEBT BUYERS TO SUE
- The Wisconsin State Senate is expected to consider a bill today that would lower the burden of proof for debt buyers suing consumers for unpaid debts. The bill has already been approved by the Wisconsin Assembly; if it is approved by the Senate, it would go to the governor for signature or veto. A copy of the bill is available here.

- Still in Wisconsin, a plan that would turn over Milwaukee county debts to the state to help fund the construction of a new basketball arena is being re-considered. The construction had originally been approved only after the debt collection transfer provision was taken out of the plan. Now, it is being added back in.
