“TODAY” SHOW USES RE-TREAD CALLS TO ILLUSTRATE ILLEGAL COLLECTION ACTIVITIES
- The “Today” show tackles the topic of what consumers should do when they get a call from a debt collector. The advice is pretty benign – like telling consumers they can not be threatened or harassed, and that collectors can not threaten to sue unless they plan to do so. But it’s interesting that the collector recordings they used to illustrate the bad behavior are the exact same recordings that regulators and others have played; it’s kind of like showing a video of the same person running a stop sign and using it an example of how everyone is a bad driver.
