CONGRESS CONSIDERS HEALTHCARE DEBT BILLS
- Identical pieces of legislation were introduced in the House and Senate late last week that would impact how medical debts are reported to the credit bureaus. The legislation, if enacted, would create a 180-day waiting period before delinquent medical debts could be reported to a credit bureau.
FLORIDA WANTS TO GIVE MORE DRIVERS THEIR LICENSES BACK
- The state of Florida is looking at undoing legislation that would allow for the suspension of driver’s licenses for offenses unrelated to driving violations. Such legislation more greatly affects low-income individuals because of additional fees and charges that are placed on the accounts when a license is suspended.
IRS BREACH CONTINUES TO WORSEN
- A data breach at the Internal Revenue Service has been revealed to be far worse than originally estimated. What originally started as a breach that affected 105,000 taxpayers last May, and then was revised upward to 330,000 in August, is now at 720,000, according to the IRS.
