CALIFORNIA AG WINS $1.1B JUDGMENT AGAINST CORINTHIAN FOR ILLEGAL DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES
- The attorney general of California has won a $1.1 billion summary judgment against Corinthian Colleges, for the use of illegal debt collection practices, among other charges. The college would prohibit students who were behind on their payments from attending class, according to the complaint. The award culminates a nearly three-year campaign by the California AG to bring the defunct and bankrupt Corinthian to justice.
MORE YOUNGER PEOPLE GETTING APPROVED FOR CREDIT
- More younger people are receiving credit approvals, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. While the overall approval rate increased, it increased the most for people under the age of 40, according to the report. The report also reveals that the number of people who were too discouraged to apply for credit decreased to a record-low number.
