AGENCY HIRES FORMER CITY MANAGER TO HELP LAND MORE GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS
- William E. Johnson III, the former City Manager of Petersburg, Virginia, who was fired three months ago for his alleged role in a financial office 2016 scandal consuming the city, has been hired as senior vice president of governmental affairs for Credit Adjustment Board, Inc., a collection agency. In his new role, Johnson will work to find more local government contracts for the agency. Johnson was allegedly fired as a result of a financial scandal involving inaccurate water bills. Credit Adjustment has primarily worked with healthcare companies since its founding in 1957.
INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION AGENCY RELEASES HANDBOOK TO HELP COLLECT IN 42 COUNTRIES
- I wasn’t able to download a copy, but Atradius Collections, one of the world’s largest collections agencies, has published its 10th annual “Debt Collection Handbook,” which lays out country specific debt collection policies for 42 different nations, including the United States. You can try to access a copy of the handbook here. The handbook includes information from experienced collectors and lawyers in each of the countries profiled.
FEWEST INDIVIDUALS IN A DECADE HAVE SUBPRIME CREDIT SCORES
- The number of individuals with subprime credit scores fell for the sixth straight year and is at its lowest point in more than a decade, according to data released by Fair Isaac Corp., which manages the FICO score. Individuals with subprime credit scores accounted for 20.7% of all credit scores, which is down from 25.5% five years ago. Higher credit scores could be welcome news to banks and other lenders, which can make more loans without having to loosen the criteria under which individuals are approved. Credit cards and auto lending are expected to be the asset classes that are the first to benefit.
