BOCK APPEAL UPHELD; CASE REMANDED BACK TO DISTRICT COURT TO DETERMINE IF PLAINTIFF HAS STANDING TO FILE SUIT
- Perhaps somewhat overshadowed by the events in Sacramento yesterday was a fairly big ruling in a fairly big court case. The Third Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the judgment against the plaintiff in Bock v. Pressler & Pressler, and remanded the case back to the District Court of the District of New Jersey to determine whether the plaintiff has legitimate standing to move forward with the suit. The appeals court applied the Supreme Court’s Spokeo ruling in making the decision.
AT&T DEVELOPING ‘STRIKE FORCE’ TO COMBAT ROBOCALLS
- AT&T is taking up the gauntlet thrown down by Tom Wheeler, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and will develop a “strike force” to develop a plan to keep companies from robocalling individuals. AT&T said it hopes other wireless carriers will follow suit. The objective is to create a “Do Not Originate” list, which would automatically block calls coming from phone numbers known to make robocalls.
