After more than a quarter century at the Federal Trade Commission, Jessica Rich, the director of the agency’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, has announced her departure.
Among the eight divisions managed by Rich were the Division of Enforcement, the Division on Financial Practices, the Division on Privacy and Identity Protection, and more. Many of the enforcement actions undertaken against debt collectors and collection agencies stemmed from Rich’s area of the FTC.
Rich also created the Office of Technology Research and Investigations at the FTC, to train agency staff and assist with tech-related investigations.
Rich’s last day at the agency will be February 17. Her former boss, chairwoman Edith Ramirez, has already announced her departure from the agency.
