NEW FTC ACTING DIRECTOR TALKS ABOUT HIS PLAN
- The new acting director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection said his plan is to balance being a “good steward of consumer protection” with regulatory costs to business. Tom Pahl, a former managing counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, was named to the FTC post earlier this week, after Jessica Rich announced her departure from the agency. Pahl also said he was not sure how long he would stay at the FTC.
WISCONSIN COUNTY HIRES COLLECTION AGENCY TO RECOUP UNPAID PROPERTY TAXES
- The county of Milwaukee, Wisc., has hired Credit Management Control to help collect unpaid property taxes owed to the local government. While the county already collects 95% of the property taxes it is owed, it contracted with a private agency rather than using state employees to try and collect the remaining balance.
