- A quartet of Democratic Senators have submitted a letter to the Federal Trade Commission and the Internal Revenue Service, calling for a review of the scripts being used by the private collection agencies collecting unpaid tax debts on behalf of the IRS.

- A single call made to an individual’s cell phone — a call that didn’t cost the individual anything to receive it — is a sufficient concrete injury that a Telephone Consumer Protection Act lawsuit can continue, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled. In this case, a fitness gym made an unsolicited call to an individual’s cell phone and left a pre-recorded voicemail message when the call was not answered. The Appeals Court overturned a District Court ruling that said the single call was not the “type of case that Congress was trying to protect people against.”
BANKRUPTCY FILINGS INCREASE: ABI
