PRESIDENT TRUMP ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR FTC SPOTS
- President Trump plans to nominate Joseph Simons as the new chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. Simons will replace Maureen Ohlhausen, a veteran of the agency who has been acting chair since replacing Edith Ramirez. Simons is a lawyer who is co-chair of the antitrust group at a Washington, D.C. law firm, who worked at the FTC under George W. Bush. President Trump also plans to nominate Rohit Chopra to fill the vacant Democratic seat on the FTC board. Chopra was formerly an assistant director at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
COLLECTION AGENCY HOLDS EVENT FOR CREDIT UNION CLIENTS
- CU Recovery, Inc., a collection agency that has worked with more than 2,600 credit unions, recently held a conference at its headquarters in Minnesota. The event provided a wide range of educational and networking opportunities for executives from credit unions across the country. Bringing in clients and teaching them about the collections process and how it can be improved through technology and applying different approaches is a unique strategy and might be worth consideration from other agencies.
MORE SUBPRIME BORROWERS FALLING BEHIND ON CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS
- The number of individuals with credit cards who are progressing into the later stages of delinquency is increasing, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Board of New York. That progression of borrowers who are at least 90 days behind on their payments is especially acute for individuals with credit scores under 660. At the same time, issuance of new credit cards is on the decline.
