- A plurality of survey responses found credit cards to be “unnecessary,” and only one in four plan on applying for a credit card in the future, according to data released today by LendEDU, a marketplace for lending products including credit cards and student loans.
LIBRARY ELIMINATES MOST FEES FOR OVERDUE MATERIALS
- For the first time in more than 200 years, the Dayton Daily Library will not charge a late fee for overdue materials, but will send a bill for replacing materials if they are not returned within 35 days of their due date. The current model of collecting fees immediately when a book is overdue is costing more than is being recovered, the library said.

BANKING GROUPS WANT TCPA SAFE HARBOR
- A number of banking groups are supporting a petition to the Federal Communications Commission that would create a safe harbor for those companies attempting to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, but who fail to do so. “Undetected technical errors” should not qualify as violations, according to the petition. The company that filed the petition is facing a $192 million lawsuit for accidentally sending text messages to individuals.
