Growing up, Scott E. Wortman would see the Chrysler Building in New York and wonder what it would be like to work there. Joining the law firm of Blank Rome as a partner this month, Wortman no longer has to wonder, and he couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store.
Blank Rome has 13 offices and more than 600 attorneys nationwide, giving Wortman a lot of new co-workers. Having a wider and deeper stable of experts as colleagues will provide Wortman’s clients with a more well-rounded and robust platform to help them grow, he said.
“A lot of clients are looking to disaggregate work among many providers to one law firm as the overall coordinator for all the services being provided to the client,” Wortman said. “At Blank Rome, I can really offer that. In addition to defending lawsuits throughout the country and delivering risk mitigation through corporate transactional services, we can provide client supervisory functions, such as compliance and vendor management. It is a logical extension of activities that a client retains a law firm to provide.”
Wortman, who works with clients on a number of consumer protection fronts, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, also praised the government relations and lobbying team at Blank Rome, and had some ideas about how they might be able to help the ARM industry.
“I want to bring some of Blank Rome’s talents to the ARM industry,” Wortman said. “I’m now working with attorneys across the country who understand what’s at stake and have communications and relationships already in place. The ARM industry is an industry that has been under attack not because of logical reasons but the fiction of how it’s portrayed. It has always been an easy target for regulators. However, it’s not as easy to pick on when you have an internationally acclaimed law firm representing you.”
