For those of you who are wondering how Mick Mulvaney, the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, spends his days, this is what you have been waiting for.
The daily schedules for Mulvaney and for former director Richard Cordray are now available online. And even thought Mulvaney is pulling double duty — acting director of the CFPB and director of the White House Office of Management & Budget — his schedule might not be as full as you would expect.
For example, during the week of January 8-12, Mulvaney’s schedule was completely blank on three days of that work week, and not overly busy on the other two days. On Tuesday, Jan. 9, he had two, 30-minute meetings scheduled and on Thursday, Jan. 11, he had three 30-minute meetings and one 60-minute meeting on his calendar. By comparison, Cordray’s schedule for the same week of 2017 was significantly fuller.
And lest anyone think that this week was picked out to show a week where Mulvaney wasn’t particularly busy, most weeks are similar in the number of meetings scheduled.
Now, it could be that Mulvaney is one of those guys who prefers to walk around an office and have more casual or impromptu interactions with his staff. But for a guy who is running two federal agencies, one would think that there might be more meetings on his calendar.
