An Idaho man called an unnamed collection agency in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, yesterday and threatened the representative who answered the phone that he was find out where that person lived and “come to their house” because the agency was trying to get in touch with the man’s girlfriend.
The man, who was previously arrested for calling in a threat to a local high school, was arrested again and taken into custody. Michael Dana Mastro is facing misdemeanor charges of using a telephone to threaten and harass. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison.
Mastro may have wanted to pick another day to make the threat. Last month, in an online post, he said he was going to shoot up two schools in the area and that he was planning to do it on April 18, which was yesterday. Police were already planning to watch him for the day when he called in the threat to the agency and was subsequently arrested.
The number of absent students in the district was six times higher than usual because of the threat, according to a published report.
An employee at the collection agency called police after Mastro contacted in, saying “I am going to use my decoding abilities to find out where you are located and I am going to come to your house.”
