It would seem to be common sense that if you’re going to run for governor of a state, then maybe you should make sure you’re not being chased by debt collectors with a civil arrest warrant.
Giovanni Feroce is a Republican gubernatorial candidate in Rhode Island and it appears as though when he makes his next public appearance, he’ll have more than just supporters waiting for him.
Feroce was ordered to appear before a judge yesterday to answer questions about why he has not made any payments on a default judgment that was entered against him for an $8,000 debt incurred by a company he used to run. Feroce didn’t show for court, so the company sought a writ of body attachment against him.
The debt is owed to a clothing supplier who has been trying to collect on the judgment for nearly a year, according to a published report. The company Feroce used to run is now in receivership and is being dogged by creditors, vendors, and employees over unpaid bills and wages.
Feroce, who is the former CEO of Alex and Ani, was traveling out of state yesterday and intends to cooperate, his lawyer said
