HBO SHOW BLAMES ACA v. FCC COURT RULING FOR INCREASE IN ROBOCALLS
- Without coming out and naming them specifically, it sounded an awful lot like John Oliver of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” put the blame for the increasing number of robocalls that individuals are receiving squarely on the shoulders of ACA International’s lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission.
CLASS-ACTION FDCPA SUIT FILED AGAINST COMPANY FOR THREATENING TO DISCLOSE DEBTS TO THIRD PARTIES
- A class-action lawsuit has been filed against an automobile lender and the company working on the lender’s behalf to repossess a vehicle for allegedly violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by disclosing information to a third party and for allegedly violating state law in Wisconsin for offering a “finder’s fee” to a third-party to help find the vehicle.
LOOKING AT COMMENTS FILED RELATED TO CFPB’S PROPOSED DEBT COLLECTION SURVEY
- Three different trade groups, including ACA International, were the only individuals or entities to file comments to a proposal from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to conduct a survey in relation to debt collection disclosure forms.
BILL IN MARYLAND TO HIRE PRIVATE AGENCY TO COLLECT $102M IN UNPAID TOLLS ONE STEP CLOSER TO BECOMING LAW
- A bill has been passed in the Maryland House of Delegates that would allow the state’s transportation agency to hire a collection agency to try and recover $102 million of unpaid tolls.

- ezPay365, a provider of payment processing solutions for the accounts receivable management (ARM) industry, has named Dan Weot, senior vice president, business development.
