- A new law went into effect in New York today that clarifies how collectors and creditors can attempt to collect debts from deceased individuals.
BIPARTISAN TAX REFORM BILL INTRODUCED; WOULD AMEND PRIVATE COLLECTION AGENCY PROGRAM
- A bipartisan bill has been introduced in the Senate to reform the Internal Revenue Service, including how it is told to operate its private collection agency program where unpaid tax debts are outsourced to one of four collection agencies.
ILL. APPELLATE COURT REFUSES TO HEAR CASE INVOLVING $16M AWARD OVER COLLECTION ATTEMPT THAT ALLEGEDLY LED TO SUICIDE
- Ruling it does not have jurisdiction to intervene, the Appellate Court of Illinois has refused to review a lawsuit filed against a collection agency by the husband of a woman who committed suicide after the agency attempted to enforce a judgment against the woman that had been vacated.
