While still not ranking very high as one of the best places to work in the federal government, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau made a huge jump in the 2019 rankings, according to data that was released recently.
Overall, among mid-sized federal agencies, the CFPB ranked 21st out of 25 agencies, but had the largest improvement in its score from 2018 to 2019 among agencies with between 1,000 and 14,999 employees. Among all federal agencies, the 6.7 point increase in score was the fourth-highest recorded.
The CFPB had a score of 58.4, putting it ahead of the National Archives and Record Administration, the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Department of Education. The Federal Trade Commission placed second in the mid-sized category and the Federal Communications Commission placed 16th.
The CFPB’s score topped out at 76.9 in 2017, but took a huge fall to 51.7 in 2018.
The report digs down into a number of different categories, and what’s interesting is that, for most of the categories, the CFPB’s score either remained roughly the same or decreased from 2018 to 2019.
