- The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a lower court’s dismissal of a lawsuit that alleged a number of parties violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by charging too much in post-judgment interest when attempting to recover unpaid debts.
CREDITOR FACING TCPA SUIT OVER COLLECTION CALLS TO WRONG NUMBER
- An individual has filed a class-action lawsuit against Charter Communications, alleging the cable provider violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by making calls to her cell phone without her consent because it was looking for someone else. The calls allegedly continued after the plaintiff told a representative of the defendant that she was not the person the defendant was looking for.
PRA GROUP CRACKS $1B IN REVENUE FOR FIRST TIME
- PRA Group reported fourth-quarter profits of $31 million yesterday, compared with $18 million in the fourth quarter of 2018, and full-year profits of $98 million, up from $76 million in 2018, thanks in part to the payoff from investments to make collectors and the company’s call centers more efficient and productive.
