HOUSE FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE CANCELS HEARINGS
Rep. Maxine Waters [D-Calif.], the chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced yesterday that all remaining hearings for the month of March have been postponed.

PANDEMIC DECLARATION TRIGGERS NEW RULES UNDER ADA
Earlier this week, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus to be a pandemic, the first time in more than a decade that it has made such a declaration.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the declaration of a pandemic triggers specific rules that must be followed. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued guidance and answered some common questions about how employers should be handling this situation in their offices. For example, during a pandemic, employers have the right to take the temperature of their employees to determine if they have a fever or not. As well, employers can require employees to adopt infection-control practices at the workplace, such as washing their hands, and can require employee to wear personal protective equipment, like masks or gloves.
