National Management Recovery Corporation, a third-party debt collection agency headquartered in Coral Springs, Florida, is proud to sponsor Back on My Feet, a national organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources.
For the second year, NMRC participated in a Back on My Feet charity event to support the organization’s important work in removing barriers to housing and employment while empowering individuals to return to self-sufficiency. The organization helps individuals build marketable skills to develop career opportunities and has an amazing 83% success rate of maintaining employment after 15 months.
Back on My Feet operates in 13 major U.S. cities and recruits individuals at homeless or addiction and treatment facilities. The entire program consists of three phases totaling approximately 100 days. Throughout the program, members obtain the necessary skills to reach self-sufficiency:
- During phase 1, individuals, or members, commit to running three early mornings a week. Members set goals and after 30 days and 90% success, earn the opportunity to move to the next phase called Next Steps.
- Phase 2, or Next Steps, spans days 30-100. Members attend financial literacy classes and participate in job skills training that is provided through partnerships with corporate partners. Members can also earn financial aid to assist with work supplies, transportation, and security deposits, enabling them to obtain employment and housing.
- Phase three, the Alumni Program, gives newly employed and housed program graduates the opportunity to stay involved. Alumni members are provided monthly meetings to maintain community support, health & wellness education, one-on-one career coaching for career advancement, and leadership opportunities in which they can mentor new members and serve on the Back on My Feet boards.
