GETTING TO KNOW DIANE STAMATELATOS OF DEBT CO COLLECTIONS

  • For all the people who come to the credit and collection industry early in their careers and then never leave, there is someone like Diane Stamatelatos, who just recently joined the industry, but has spent most of her career working at huge companies in the financial services industry. She’s worked at Bank of America and Citibank to name just two former employers, but she has brought her love of data and numbers to her new home as owner of Debt Co Collections. Read on to learn more about Diane, why you should never bother her when Survivor is on, and why she doesn’t mind working twice as hard as everyone else. This series is sponsored by Arbeit.

JUDGE GRANTS TRO FOR ACA SUIT AGAINST MASSACHUSETTS AG

  • A District Court judge in Massachusetts has granted a request from ACA International for a temporary restraining order, enjoining the attorney general of that state from enacting emergency regulations that barred collectors from, among other things, being able to initiate phone conversations with individuals who have unpaid debts.

SUPREME COURT CONSIDERS VIABILITY OF TCPA DURING HEARING ON GOV’T DEBT COLLECTION EXEMPTION

  • Could the entire Telephone Consumer Protection Act be on the chopping block following yesterday’s hearing before the Supreme Court? The idea may be less far-fetched today than it seemed yesterday, before the Justices heard arguments via telephone and before the flush heard around the world. One thing does appear certain when looking at the questions from the Justices, and that is that the days are numbered for the exemption that Congress put into place in 2015 that allowed an automated telephone dialing system to be used when making collection calls for debts that are owed to the federal government.

REPORT DETAILS HOW COLLECTION SUITS ARE ‘TRANSFORMING’ STATE COURTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

  • The number of debt collection lawsuits have grown to “dominate” state court dockets across the country, and represent the most common type of case in nine of 12 states for which data is available, according to a report issued yesterday by the Pew Charitable Trusts, a non-profit public policy organization.

WORTH NOTING: Difficult news for parents – distance learning could go on for “years” … Restaurants that will bring Mother’s Day brunch to you … People will likely need more help from the government … Pandemic home schooling is not being divided equally, despite what men say … I have no idea why this show is so popular … If you’re among the group of people who want to know when this product will be back … How to protect your credit score during a pandemic … It didn’t take long for an airline’s proposed social distancing fee to backfire … Among the sentences I never thought I’d get the opportunity to type: The Treasury Secretary is fighting with Axl Rose on Twitter.

Habits that show someone who grew up in poverty

I’m not ashamed to admit I got sucked into watching this; I miss sports
