NYC EXTENDS ENFORCEMENT GRACE PERIOD FOR LANGUAGE ACCESS RULE
- The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs has extended the period through which it will not issue any enforcement actions for violations of its new language access rule until October 1.
APPEALS COURT AFFIRMS DISMISSAL OF FCRA SUIT BECAUSE PLAINTIFF FAILED TO DISPUTE WITH CRA
- Because an individual chose to only dispute a debt to the furnisher and did not notify a credit reporting agency of the dispute, the individual does not have standing to sue under Section 1681-2(b) of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled yesterday in affirming a lower court’s dismissal of the suit.

- A District Court judge in New York has denied a defendant’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit that claims it violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act because it included two addresses on the coupon portion of a collection letter and did not specify to which address a payment should be sent.
