IQOR FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION
- Collection operation and contact center business-process outsourcing provider iQor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection yesterday, seeking approval of a pre-packaged plan that would provide the company with $130 million of funding to reorganize itself and continue operating.
APPEALS COURT AFFIRMS DISMISSAL OF FCRA CASE OVER DELETED ITEM ON CREDIT REPORT
- The Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of a lawsuit in which an individual alleged a credit reporting agency violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by deleting a positive from a credit report, which is fine as long as the item was not deleted from his credit file.
JUDGE PARTIALLY DENIES MTD IN FDCPA CASE OVER SOL DISCLOSURE IN LETTER
- A District Court judge in Maryland partially dismissed allegations that a defendant violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by sending a letter to collect on a time-barred debt without mentioning that any form of payment would revive the statute of limitations, but sided with the plaintiff in determining the choice of law provisions require such a disclosure to be made.
