Robbie Malone, an icon within the accounts receivable management industry for her staunch defense of companies of all shapes and sizes, passed away on Wednesday because of complications due to COVID-19. She was 60.
Robbie, one of the founding partners of Malone Frost Martin, had spent more than two decades working in the ARM industry and had spent more than 30 years as a trial attorney. In a “Getting to Know” profile she completed last year, she said she got her start in the industry after she was asked to defend a debt collection agency by an insurance carrier. Prior to joining the industry, she worked as a prosecutor where she honed her skills at selecting juries and cross-examining witnesses both for Brazos County and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. She also worked in private practice defending medical malpractice cases.
Robbie graduated from the University of Houston Law School in 1986. She was named Attorney of the Year by ACA International in 2019.
A true Texan through and through, Robbie enjoyed spending time on her ranch and when asked about the one fact she wanted everyone in the industry to know about her, she said, “I don’t know how to be anything but a straight shooter.”
Revered by anyone who knew her or crossed paths with her, Robbie brought a no-nonsense approach to defending her clients and advocated tirelessly on their, and the industry’s, behalf.
Robbie is survived by her husband Stuart Self, her brothers Richard (Rick) Malone and Robert (Bo) Malone Jr., and her nephew Eric Malone. More details about Robbie’s passing are available here
