HOUSE RESOLUTION CALLS FOR BANK ON SALE OF UTILITY DEBTS, RESTRICTIONS ON CREDIT REPORTING
- Access to public utilities, like water, heat, and electricity are basic human rights and nothing should be done to prevent access to those resources, and others, according to a resolution introduced in the House of Representatives last week.
- The resolution calls for a ban on utilities selling their unpaid debts and for a ban on “adverse” credit reporting, among other provisions.

CBO PUTS $400B PRICE TAG ON STUDENT LOAN DEBT CANCELLATION PLAN
- The plan to wipe out as much as $20,000 in unpaid student loan debts for individuals making less than $125,000 a year will erase about 25% of the total amount of student loan debt in the country, according to the report, issued by the Congressional Budget Office.
- About 45% of income-eligible borrowers will have all of their debt forgiven.
