How did you get your start in the industry?
I was 17 years old and looking for part-time work during the summer months. A friend’s grandmother who worked in the industry encouraged me to apply. I started out part time as a collector. I quickly realized it was something I was good at and enjoyed.
What is your career highlight so far?
Moving to the Collection Manager position. I enjoy hiring, training, coaching, and guiding my team to success.
When or how are you most productive?
I’m most productive with coffee and a prioritized to do list.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
During my 18 years at Pro Com Services of Illinois, Inc. I’ve been blessed to work with three amazing leaders, learning from each of them. Connie Matrisch, Ryan Matrisch and Kim Cline.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
My positivity and uplifting others.
What do you like most about this industry?
Each day is different and brings new challenges.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The negative stigma.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I don’t ever see myself leaving the industry, however as a child I wanted to be a defense attorney.
Describe a typical work day
It starts with checking stats, totals and deciding the daily workflow and strategy. I check my calendar and prioritize my to do list based on the tasks that need to be completed for that day. As each team member arrives, I greet, motivate, and make sure they each have what they need to be successful for the day. I work on emails, handle consumer voicemails, my teams chat messages, and tasks that need to be completed. The fun begins when I’m listening to calls, coaching, and encouraging my team.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I love watching Dateline, 48 Hours and 20/20. I record every episode.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Pick your battles.
