CFPB Sues Finance Co. for ‘Bullying’ Consumers by Making False Collection Threats, Among Other Allegations
- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau yesterday filed a lawsuit against a consumer finance company, accusing it of a number of violations, including making threats to take actions against consumers when collecting on delinquent accounts that it did not intend to take and not having policies and procedures concerning the accuracy of information it was furnishing to the credit reporting agencies, among other allegations.

Calif. Appeals Court Affirms Jury Award Against Collection Law Firm, but Remands Case for Review of Attorney Fees
- The California State Appeals Court has issued rulings in a pair of cases involving the same plaintiff and defendant — a collection law firm — affirming a jury award against the law firm and reversing the $269,325.765 in attorney fees awarded by the trial court because it did not award fees for the work done opposing the law firm’s opposition to the award.

PRA Group to Close Virginia Call Center, Impacting 123 Employees
