Brandon Huisman doesn’t seem like your average data analyst in that he loves the outdoors and all it has to offer. Heck, if he wasn’t working in the ARM industry, he would most likely be working outdoors. But maybe being a little unconventional is what has allowed him to succeed for nearly 15 years in the ARM industry. How did you get your start in the industry?
I started working for GMAC Mortgage in 2009 during the recession. After that business was sold off I worked at CBE Companies as a Corporate Analyst. From there, I spent about seven years near this industry overseeing analytics and development at LocatesSmarter.
When or how are you most productive?
I am most productive when I have a full plate. There is something about racing against time that allows me to focus and be the most productive version I can be.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I have always been able to look objectively at projects or problems to envision the end before choosing a starting point. I think this has often allowed me to produce a better product in a shorter amount of time.
What do you like most about this industry?
I love that this industry is data intensive (I am an analyst after all) and that it is constantly evolving.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
This industry often seems about a decade behind on the technology & innovation curve compared to many other industries- I wish those things were quicker, cheaper, and easier to adopt.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Something in real estate, probably appraising Ag and Residential properties.
Describe a typical work day
I like to start the day out with a little caffeine and go over my to- do list for the day. Then it’s a race to get as much done as possible in between meetings.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I am an avid outdoorsman. I love hunting, fishing, golfing and they take a large majority of my free time (and money!)
