Proposed Rule Would Require Mini-Miranda Disclosure in Five Languages
- A proposed rule issued by an agency of the Treasury Department last week started making waves in the accounts receivable management industry when it became clear that collection operations would be subject to the proposal which is aimed at mandating that required disclosures given to consumers be done so in multiple languages, regardless of the communication channel being used. The proposed rule, which was issued by the Financial Stability Oversight Council, would most likely only apply to the mini-Miranda notice, but would require companies make the disclosure in five different languages.

Industry Attorney Selected to Replace ‘Bachelorette’ Drop-Out
- In a surprise announcement over the weekend, ABC announced that Jenn Tran has withdrawn as the network’s next “Bachelorette” and that she will be replaced by ARM industry professional Katie Zugsay, who was the other candidate being considered for the show.

Group Pushing State Laws to Ban Internet, Technology From Collections
- After seeing the success that other consumer groups are having at enacting laws limiting medical debt collection practices in state legislatures, a consumer advocacy that claims to focus on a more traditional approach to life has begun lobbying state lawmakers to ban the use of the Internet in collecting debt altogether. The group wants to ban any and all forms of communication except for letters and would even require collectors to stop using any technology inside their office that connects to the Internet.
