How did you get your start in the industry?
I started as a Software Engineer straight out of college for what was then called Ontario Systems, coding for our flagship collection system.
What is your career highlight so far?
Receiving the international award from Women in Compliance, Compliance Innovator of the Year Award in 2020.
When or how are you most productive?
I’m most productive first thing in the morning, and then I get a second wind around 3pm.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
Rozanne Andersen. Not only has she undeniably excelled in her career, leading our industry in a number of ways over the years she is a genuinely good and caring person. She wants to see you be successful and if there is anything she can do to assist you, she will!
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
My superpower is interpretation and translation. I come from a technical background, but I’ve always been in situations where I needed to bridge the gap between, technical, legal and business lingo. I have a knack for being able to interpret what you are saying and translating it to the language needed for your counterpart in a different department to understand, no matter if you work in the technical, legal and compliance or business side of the house.

I love the people!
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
The industry’s reputation.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
I would probably own my own bakery. I love to make all kinds of baked goods and I’m always striving to make the best cookie, scone, pie, cake, etc. out there.
Describe a typical work day.
I usually start the day out with a cup of coffee and catching up on my emails. Then I either jump into my to-do list or any number of internal or external meetings to discuss various regulatory risks or evaluate what’s next on the horizon. I usually wrap my day up working on educational materials to share with others and a to-do list to get me started the following day.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I love to watch British period dramas like “All Creatures Great and Small” and “Grantchester”.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Do you best and never give up, you are capable of all things!
What are you currently reading?
Any current industry regulatory information.
