Bajaj Finance is giving the financial services industry a glimpse into what large-scale AI deployment may look like in customer engagement, collections, servicing, and lending operations. The company says it has already processed 20 million customer calls using AI systems and expects that number to jump to 100 million calls over the next year.
According to published reports, Bajaj Finance is using AI-powered voice systems to:
- Convert customer calls into structured data
- Analyze conversations to generate lending opportunities
- Automate customer service interactions
- Handle loan reminders and follow-up communication
- Support identity verification through facial recognition
- Generate marketing videos and creative content
- Power conversational bots for two-way customer interactions
The company said voice-to-text conversion has already been completed for more than 520,000 customers, helping generate approximately 100,000 new loan offers where usable customer data previously did not exist.
One of the more eye-opening claims involved staffing and operational scale. Bajaj Finance said roughly 10 AI voice bots are now handling workloads previously managed by nearly 1,500 human calling agents, in another report.
The company also reported:
- A 25% to 45% improvement in efficiency after deploying AI
- AI-driven voice operations costing roughly one-third of traditional operations
- Significant scalability improvements during high-volume periods
- More than 46 million facial-recognition identity verification matches completed
Another important shift is how the company describes moving away from traditional one-way outreach channels like SMS alerts and reminder emails.
Bajaj Finance currently operates 11 conversational AI bots that allow consumers to ask questions, request statements, and discuss loan eligibility in real time. The company plans to expand those bots across all 26 product categories by mid-2026.
Despite the aggressive rollout, the reports also acknowledged ongoing concerns around empathy, judgment, and handling emotionally sensitive interactions. That tension will likely sound familiar to many companies in collections and consumer finance, where organizations are trying to balance efficiency gains with consumer experience, compliance oversight, and relationship management.
Still, Bajaj Finance’s roadmap suggests the industry is moving quickly toward AI becoming a core operational layer rather than simply a support tool. The company plans to deploy more than 800 autonomous AI agents across departments including operations, sales, IT, HR, analytics, and debt management over the next year.
