Sherrika Newman personifies the dedication, passion, and commitment that is defining the collection operations of today and why this industry’s image is changing, just maybe not as fast as everyone wants. All she wants is to help those around her — new hires, co-workers, clients, and consumers — succeed. Is there anything more important than that? Read on to learn more about Sherrika, why she embraces being a “conspiracy analyst,” and why she is comfortable being uncomfortable.
Name: Sherrika Newman (“Ms./She”)
Job Title: Corporate Trainer
Company: Revco Solutions, Inc.
Length of time at current company: 8 Years
Length of time in industry: 8 Years
How did you get your start in the industry?
I entered the ARM industry as a Bad Debt Supervisor, leading a high-performing collections team that consistently ranked #1 in collections performance and KPI achievement for 14 consecutive months. That experience laid the foundation for my passion for developing people, driving results, and building operational excellence.
What is your career highlight so far?
One of my proudest accomplishments was helping retain a client during a merger by partnering directly with their business office, customizing a training program around their specific needs, and serving as their dedicated trainer. That relationship continues today, and I have since led multiple successful merger and transition training initiatives across the organization.
When or how are you most productive?
I am most productive early in the morning when I have uninterrupted time to plan, problem-solve, and prepare for the day. Starting ahead of schedule allows me to bring energy, focus, and intention into every training session and project.
Which industry professional do you admire most?
I admire both Steve Gayheart and Melony Frizzell. Steve exemplifies authenticity, leadership, and deep industry expertise, while Melony inspires others through education, innovation, and her ability to elevate the people around her.
What is one thing you do better than everyone else?
I excel at self-motivation and research-driven problem solving. Whether it’s developing training content, improving a process, or resolving a complex operational challenge, I enjoy digging beneath the surface to find practical, long-term solutions.
What do you like most about this industry?
What I enjoy most is the opportunity to meet people where they are and help them move forward. Whether I am working with a new hire, colleague, patient, or consumer, I enjoy finding the right strategy to create understanding, progress, and positive outcomes.
What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?
I would love to see the industry continue improving its public perception. Revenue Cycle Management plays a critical role in healthcare, and I believe greater awareness of the value and career opportunities within the industry would attract more talented professionals.
If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?
Given my background in healthcare insurance and call center operations, I would likely be working in a leadership, training, or operational role within the healthcare insurance sector. Developing people and improving performance has always been a consistent theme throughout my career.
Describe a typical work day.
No two days are exactly alike. When facilitating new hire classes, my days are focused on delivering structured training programs that range from one to four weeks, while outside the classroom I spend time developing curriculum, coaching employees, supporting operational initiatives, and collaborating on educational content such as webinars and training resources.
What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is diving into research rabbit holes and exploring unconventional topics. Let’s just say I proudly embrace the title of “Conspiracy Analyst” with a smile.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
“Get comfortable being uncomfortable.” Growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone, and some of the greatest opportunities in life and business come from embracing challenges rather than avoiding them.
What are you currently reading?
At the moment, I’m focused on journaling and personal reflection. The last book I completed was “Chaos” by Tom O’Neill, which challenged me to think critically and explore complex narratives from multiple perspectives.
What is one fact you’d like everyone in the industry to know about you?
I genuinely care about helping people succeed. Whether I am training a new employee, supporting a client, or coaching a colleague, my goal is always to leave people more confident, capable, and prepared than when we started.
Who else would you like to see answer these questions?
