A bankruptcy notice doesn’t end your obligations. It changes them, and the credit reporting piece is where a lot of shops quietly get it wrong. Discharge versus dismissal, whether to zero a balance, when to keep reporting and when to suppress, and how Metro 2 guidance lines up (or doesn’t) with the case law coming out of the circuits. These are the questions that turn a routine account into a compliance problem. Add a consumer who insists an account is “in bankruptcy” when no notice ever reached you, and the operational stakes get real fast.
In this webinar, a panel of experts will break down what accurate reporting actually looks like once bankruptcy enters the picture: the automatic stay and how quickly it has to change your behavior, the difference the chapter and the disposition make, where the Metro 2 fields trip people up, and the tradeoffs behind the common instinct to just pull the tradeline and reduce bureau exposure
