- A Vermont town is considering hiring a collection agency to go after presidential candidate Donald Trump, who owes the town $8,500 for overtime costs for police and fire for a campaign stop that the candidate made in the town in January. The campaign issued more tickets than there were seats and the town required additional personnel to handle the overflow. The town wanted to note that candidate Bernie Sanders paid his bills when he held an event there last year.
VENDOR ADVOCATES AUTODIALERS FOR FIRST-PARTY COLLECTORS
- An interesting take from a service provider offering collection advice to creditors and other first-party collectors. The advice includes telling those financial services organizations to invest in an autodialer, because it can double the number of calls made by a collection department every hour. Of course, autodialing technology has been in the crosshairs of the Federal Communications Commission, which has said that using the technology – to call consumers on mobile phones – is not allowed unless the caller has the consent of the consumer. The other advice was to implement clear and concise policies and procedures and call monitoring technology to make sure those procedures are being followed.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON’T ASK FOR A CREDIT CHECK ON THE FIRST DATE
- Newlyweds are doing a bad job of keeping up on their new spouse’s credit information, according to a survey conducted by Experian. Forty percent of respondents do not know the credit score of their new spouse and one in three respondents said their spouse’s spending habits were not what they expected.
