- A new law in Iowa is going to make it easier for collection agencies and county courts to collect on unpaid fines and fees. The law, which was passed by the state legislature last week and signed into law, will now define a debt as delinquent at 30 days past due. County attorneys are also going to be able to enter into installment agreements with delinquent debtors without adding any additional fees.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PISS OFF CREDIT UNIONS
- The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU), a trade group representing those non-profit financial services organizations, has submitted a letter to the Federal Communications Commission urging the FCC to reconsider a proposed rule that would allow a residential line being used for business purposes to be clarified as a residential line. NAFCU’s argument is that the FCC is adopting a “dated” regulation with respect to the treatment of mobile phones, especially as more consumers use that type of phone as their primary line of communication.
