COLLECTION AGENCY ACCUSED OF NOT PAYING EMPLOYEES
- An Illinois collection agency, Vision Financial, is being accused by its employees of bouncing paychecks. The employees claim they have not been paid in more than a month. The CEO of the firm, Stewart Dauman, is not responding to employee requests, according to a published report, and his home is up for sale. One employee likened the situation to “modern day slavery” and said he has been donating plasma to have money for gas and food.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT LOOKING FOR WAYS TO RECOVER $45 MILLION IN UNPAID DEBTS
- A local government just outside of Toronto is looking at more aggressively finding ways to recover $45 million in unpaid fines from traffic tickets. The fines have been piling up since 1999 and the regional government is considering increasing the use of collection agencies.
