- One more review of the D.C. Court of Appeals hearing oral arguments in the lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission filed by ACA International. While the three judges were “difficult to read,” and the lawyer from Venable appears to be resigned to a result that will “continue to trouble” the industry, it was noted that at least one judge thought some of the FCC’s arguments were “silly.”

- Indian IT firms are eyeing the Revenue Cycle Management market like a hungry dog eyes a cooling pie on a window sill, according to a published report. The firms are especially targeting smaller hospitals and healthcare providers, which traditionally have outsourced some or all of the RCM functions. About 10% of RCM functions are currently outsourced offshore, according to the report.
U.K. HEALTH AGENCY HIRING DEBT COLLECTORS TO GO AFTER UNPAID MEDICAL BILLS
- The National Health System in the United Kingdom is going to start using debt collectors to try and recover some of the $400 million that is not paid by foreign tourists who are treated in U.K. healthcare facilities every year, but who do not pay their bills. The crackdown is aimed at eradicating a strategy known as “health tourism,” where people travel to the U.K. to take advantage of the free healthcare.
